Aroha island camp

Last week we went on our end of year camp. We went to Aroha island with kereru whanau. We had lots of fun. We went kayaking and hiking, and we just played. We went to Aroha island for an opportunity for kids to learn and discover the wild life.

limerick poem

Last week on Tuesday we started a limerick poem. There is 5 lines in the poem. The rules of a limerick poem are:
Lines 1, 2 and 5 have to have 8-10 syllables and the end word has to rhyme.
Lines 3 and 4 have to have 5-6 syllables and the end word has to rhyme. 
They are a light-hearted, funny poem and don't have to make sense or be true. Here is a picture of mine:

What did I learn? I learnt how to write a limerick poem I never used now how to write one.

What did I enjoy? I enjoyed drawing the tree and the bee. 

What could I improve on? I could improve on making my writing better  because it's messy.

Kiwi Can

Today we had kiwi can. Our focus today was respect. The catch phrase to day was: We respect our school we will do it because we are cool. The games we played were snap crackle pop and So, ma, ca, lo. Here is a photo: 

How did I show respect today? I showed respect to day by congratulating the winner. What did I enjoy? I enjoyed playing the games because one was a running game. What could I improve on? I could improve on so ma ca lo because I wasn't concentrated.

Te Punawai-Ora Pool Session

 Yesterday our class went on a trip to the Te Punawai-Ora Pools, for the experiencing marine reserves programme. This program is about learning about marine life and how humans affect them. We went there for a snorkelling practice before we go to Matai Bay next week on Thursday. 

I learned how to dive under the water then come up and blow out the snorkel. I enjoyed swimming in the pool with the mask and snorkel it was fun. One goal I want to do in the real sea is to hold my breath for a long period of time.

Marine reserve session with Oliver

On Tuesday my class went to Waitangi I heard they had lot's fun, but unfortunately I was not there I was at the SNOW it was even more fun. I snow board every year because we try to go every year. I like snow boarding because people say snowboarding is faster to learn but harder to master and skiing is easier to master and harder to learn.

Reflection - What I enjoy? I enjoyed snow boarding because its good fun.

What I learnt? I learnt how to turn on my snow board.

What did I find interesting? I found interesting when I hopped on my snow board I thought it was easy to turn but no it was not.

What did I find challenging I found challenging to walk on the snow.

geometric art.

Last week my class did some geometric art. I sadly did not do it because I was away sick, so instead ill tell you how to make one. Here is a picture:
 This is my friend Caleb's its awesome.

1. First find a picture and draw your picture on A4 or A3 piece of paper. 
2. Then you put geometric shapes in.
3. Then you colour it in. 
4. Then your animal is done.

Writing task

W.A.L.T up load our writing task and write about it. Last week at school we planned our writing. Our writing was our favourite place to go; I choose my big hill. With a sheet we did our introduction, then we used our senses to form our paragraphs; see, hear, smell, feel and  taste. After that we did the summary. Here is a picture.


What did I enjoy? I enjoyed writing the looks paragraph because the hill has lots of looks.   
What did I do well? I think I did well with the paragraphs I added lot of info. 
What could I improve on? I think I could improve on getting more information in there.
